Solo - Blog #4

I have just finished recording my solo. I felt that it was so much harder playing the piece with the piano accompaniment then by yourself. I had a lot of trouble keeping in time with the piano solo. It was also very hard to listen to the piano while concentrating on the notes, rhythms and dynamics.

Today I finished up working on bars 27-40. Although I can't play it perfectly, I am going to start recording. I can now play the accidentals and do the slurs.

Solo - Blog #3

Today I finished going through the whole piece over again. I still feel that I have some things to work on before I start recording, but for the most part I can play it fairly well. The only things that I am having trouble on are lines 27-40. The accidentals are what messes me up. After I get past that I'll be ready to start recording.

Solo - Blog #2

Today I focased on lines 13-26. I had troubles with the slurs and playing everything fast. In those 14 bars, overall I thought it wasn't as challenging as bars 27-40. I also think I need to focas on the dynamics like mf, f and p. The next time I practise I am going to practise bars 27-40. I am also going to practise the dynamics again in bars 13-22. I am still struggling accidentals like B♮ and D#.

Solo - Blog #1

When I got the music for my solo and looked over it for the first time before playing, I thought that it wouldn't be a hard piece to play. Then after practising for the first time I realized there were a few hard parts I would have to work through. There were a few tough rythems, I was having trouble with some of the dynamics, and the accidentals were challenging for me in some parts. Its more around the end of the piece that I struggle with.
